Create a Generic User for Interviews and Event Check-In

Run multiple candidate interviews and guest check-ins efficiently using a shared user profile.

Individual user profiles are typically required to check volunteers in or track them through the interview process. However, creating unique accounts for every single person isn't always practical. In these scenarios, you can set up a single generic account to handle guest check-ins or run multiple candidate interviews on a shared device. This allows you to log attendance and progress workflows efficiently without requiring everyone to register.

  1. Click Volunteers > Volunteers.

  2. Click the Invite Volunteer button. The Invite Volunteer window appears:

  3. Configure the generic account using the following standard credentials and profile information:

    • Email Address: Use a valid email address for this account. Once the account is created, you can access the inbox complete the registration process with a verification link.

    • First Name: Enter Generic.

    • Last Name: Enter User.

    • Phone: (Optional). Enter a phone number.

    • Date of Birth: Enter a valid date of birth confirming the user is at least 18 years old.

    • Send Email to Volunteer? It is recommended to keep this box checked to receive an email to complete account setup.

  4. Click the Save button.

  5. Check the email address assigned for an Invitation to Rosterfy to continue account setup and skip to step 17, or click the More Actions menu on the Generic User in the Volunteer List.

  6. Click View Profile. The Update Volunteer page appears:

  7. Click the Communications section in the left-hand menu.

  8. Scroll to the Email History section.

  9. Click the More Actions menu on the Invitation to Rosterfy email.

  10. Click View. The View Email window appears:

  11. Right-click the link.

  12. Click Open link in incognito window. A new browser window appears:

  13. Click the Request Code button. An email titled Code Requested is sent to the email assigned.

  14. Enter the code received.

  15. Click the Submit button. The Create Account page appears:

  16. Enter a password into the Password field. The password must contain lowercase and uppercase letters, a number, and be at least 8 characters long.

  17. Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password field.

  18. Click the Create Account button. The following window appears:

  19. Assign the Generic User profile as an Event Leader. See the Add an Event Leader article for more information.
