Updated this week

Overview

The messaging module within Rosterfy enhances the communications offerings within Rosterfy.

Messaging enables admins, leaders, and volunteers to share information and collaborate in real time.

Check out the Messaging - Overview for more information on messaging.

Viewing Channels

Admins have access to Messaging in a centralised location, where channels can be viewed and managed.

To view and manage channels in the admin console, navigate to Messaging > Channels.

The Channel table will be displayed, with the following columns available:

  • ID: Each channel will be automatically allocated an ID upon creation. This cannot be modified or edited.

  • Name: This name will be displayed in both the admin console and the volunteer portal.

  • Created by: Displaying the full name of the person who created the channel.

  • Creation date: This will show the date/time that this channel was created, formatted based on user configuration.

  • Last Updated: The date/time the channel was last updated, formatted based on user configuration.

  • Members: Will display the number of members in the channel.

  • Channel attribute: If members are added to the channel using attributes, they will be displayed in this column. However, if members were added manually, this column will show blank.

  • View / Open channel: This button will open the admin view of the channel.

When an admin with Join Channel access has joined a channel, they become a moderator of the channel.

Admins can click Open Channel, to bring up the admin view of the channel and interact with it.

If the admin has not joined as an admin, they are able to click View Channel, where they will be able to see the interactions, but will not be able to participate.

Managing Channels

Each channel has the following options available in the More Actions menu:

  • Channel Information: Will open a pop-up displaying the description, members and permissions of the channel.

  • Refresh channel: Will refresh the members within the channel (Only applicable to channels with members added by attribute.)

  • Join / Leave channel: Will enable the admin to join or leave the channel.

  • Edit channel: Will open the Update Channel page, enabling admins to edit all aspects of the channel, including adding new members.

  • Archive: Will archive the channel.

  • Delete: Will delete the channel.

Similar to other lists, to view archived channels, click the View Archive button and the list will be displayed. Channels can be restored from this view.
