Volunteers can be given the ability to self-assign into leadership roles when applying for shifts, provided there is open leader demand. This allows qualified candidates to apply directly as leaders, offering a flexible alternative to having an administrator manually designate Event Leaders or Shift Leaders.
IN THIS ARTICLE:
Enable Organization Settings
Click Settings > Organization Settings.
Click the Events tab.
Click to turn the Use Default? button off on the Allow Team Leader Check-in any Users setting.
Click the dropdown menu next to the setting.
Click Yes.
Click to turn the Use Default? button off on the Allow Shift Leaders setting.
Click the dropdown menu next to the setting.
Click Yes.
Click the Save button.
Enable Leader Permissions
Click Volunteers > Volunteers.
Click the More Actions menu on the Volunteer profile desired.
Click View Profile. The Volunteer's profile appears:
Click the Access tab.
Check the Can apply to Shifts as a Leader? checkbox.
Click the Save button.
Set Leader Demand
Leader demand is configured directly within each Shift:
Click Events > Events.
Click the View Shifts button on the Event you wish to create a repeating Shift schedule for. The Event's Shift list appears:
Click the More Actions menu on the Shift you wish to add a repeating schedule to.
Click Update. The Update Shift page appears:
Click the Advanced tab.
Enter a value in the Leader Demand field to allow a set number of Users to apply as a Leader to the Shift.
Click the Save button.
Volunteer Shift Application Process
A Volunteer uses the User Portal to apply to Shifts:
Click the Shift Calendar option in the left-hand menu.
Click the Shift you wish to apply to:
Click the Select button on the Shift. The Apply to Shift window appears:
Click Select as Shift Leader. The Shift is selected:
Click the Apply to selected Shift button. The following window appears:
Self-allocated Leader Shifts appear with a Leader label in the User Portal:
