Password Reset

Users from time-to-time may require their password to be reset to gain entry to their login, admins can support them with this.

Overview

There are two methods that can be used to reset a users password for them:

Sending a password reset via the Admin Console

Setting a temporary password via the Admin Console

The first is the preferred method, however if the user is having difficulty accessing their email address, it is possible for admins to set a temporary password for them.


Sending a Password Reset via the Admin Console

Although any user can reset their password from the login page, sometimes a user may have difficulty finding this option, they may have mis-typed their email address, or for some other reason they cannot reset it themselves.

As an admin, you can assist by following these simple steps:

  1. Within the admin console, navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Locate the user that requires a password reset.

  3. Click More Actions > Send Reset Password Email.

  4. A pop up will appear, asking you to confirm, select Yes.

A password reset email will be sent to the email address listed against the user, with a link to reset their password.


Setting a Temporary Password via the Admin Console

Admins can have the ability to set a temporary password via the admin console, for users who may be experiencing difficulty with accessing their email address or resetting their own password via the volunteer portal.

Note: The ability to set a temporary password may not be available on your organisations admin console, as it could be a potential security risk. However, if you would like to enable this feature, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

​To enable admins to set temporary passwords, the below organization setting will need to be enabled.

To set a temporary password, follow these simple steps:

  1. In the admin console, navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Locate the user that requires the password to be set, click More Actions > View Profile.

  3. On the Update User page, click Actions > Set Password.

  4. A pop up will appear, the Set Password window.

    This window gives you a few options:

    Password Field: Allows you to enter a password into the field.

    Generate a random password: Click this button to have a random password entered into the password field.

    Show the password entered: Click this button to unmask the password field.

    Send an email to the user: Allows you to email the user the updated password.

  5. Either click the Generate Random Password button, or enter a temporary password into the Password field.

  6. Once finished, click Ok.

The temporary password will then be set on the users account, for you to advise the user of, allowing them to log in and update to their own password.

Emailing the Temporary Password

If you wish to email the temporary password to the user, before clicking OK, in step 6 above, follow the below steps:

  1. In the Set Password window, click Send Email?, additional fields will be displayed.

  2. Select the required template for the email, Set Password is the default.

  3. Once finished, click Ok.

A password set email will be sent to the email address listed against the user, allowing them to log into the platform and reset their password.


Volunteer Portal Password Reset

Volunteers are able to reset their password via the Volunteer Portal and should only require admin assistance if they do not have access to the email the are registered with.

To reset a password on the Volunteer Portal, simply enter the email address and click Forgotten your Password.

The following screen will ask you to confirm you wish to reset the password, require a reCAPTCHA, then click Reset Password.

The password reset email will be sent to the provided email with a link to reset the password.
